Training is a way of life; a way to be thinking about yourself and working to optimize your performance…Whether you are recovering from a mental setback, preparing for SAT's, training for a competition, adjusting to a new way of life following illness or injury, or working your way up the corporate ladder, you desire peak performance.  In a fast-paced and results oriented world, the goal may be clear, but getting there can be a challenge.  Sometimes training your mind to be both creative enough to consider solutions you have not tried in the past and at the same time focused so as not to get too far off track may seem impossible.  That's where I can help.  I believe in utililizing a multi-modal psychotherapy treatment that is tailored to meet your specific needs.  My approach aims to develop skill building in the here-and-now so you can know you are actively addressing your challenges.  At the same time, you will identify where you may have gotten stuck in the past and how you can free up some of that anxiety in the present.  You will find yourself with greater flexibility and choice in all aspects of your life.  I work with the client in a model that enhances motivation and performance, develops emotional awareness and affective control, and improves executive function.  I help you to make the lasting changes you need to be at the top of your game.

Life is change and what we need is muscle, flexibility, and awareness.

I am an experienced  psychotherapist who works with children, adolescents and adults.  My treatment model is strengths-based and multi-modal; thoughtfully designed to meet individual needs.  I work as a therapist, a coach, a consultant and an advocate.

My academic and clinical training as well as my life experience are both deep and broad.  I have a masters degree in Social Work from Boston University; concentration in clinical work with individuals, families and groups (1996). I am a graduate of Harvard University (government, cum laude, 1994).  I earned my Advanced Training in Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Certificate following a two year fellowship at the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy.  I did advanced child and adolescent training at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute .  I grew up committed to the world of  dance and theatre. In college, I also served as the manager of the Men's Varsity Volleyball Team.  As a parent and behind the scenes, I have continued to be involved in the world of competitive sports (swimming and ballroom dance), and theatre.  I am the mental health consultant to the Ehlers Danlos Massachusetts and New England Support Group and have specialization in working with patients with Ehlers Danlos and Dysautonomia.  I also have particular interest in working with athletes in their pursuits to be mentally and physically at the top of their game.  In addition to a commitment to mental health, fitness, and physical rehabilitation, I am dedicated to community.  I have served as a member of Newton's Health and Human Services Advisory Council and I play an active role in ongoing initiatives for our community's youth.

My skill set makes me uniquely qualified to help you analyze your stumbling blocks, find sources of flexibility, make effective change, and implement those changes for lasting results. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families.
